'Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning' box office collection Day 1: Tom Cruise starrer off to a flying start with Rs 17.50 crore opening in India
Tom Cruise’s much-anticipated spy action spectacle Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning has made a thunderous debut at the Indian box office. According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has raked in an estimated Rs 17.50 crore net on Day 1 across all languages, setting it up as the biggest Hollywood opener of 2025 in India. The high-octane action blockbuster not only lived up to its pre-release buzz but also matched the bullish predictions by trade analysts, who forecast an opening between Rs 16 to Rs 20 crore. The film’s strong advance bookings and Cruise’s enduring popularity in India seem to have paid off handsomely. With this collection, The Final Reckoning now holds the title for the highest opening day collection for a Hollywood film in India in 2025, dethroning recent international releases. It surpassed Final Destination: Bloodlines, which managed just Rs 4.5 crore, and even Marvel’s Thunderbolts, which opened in the Rs 3.85 crore range.Notably, the Cruise starrer also gave several recent Bollywood biggies a run for their money. It came close to toppling the Ajay Devgn-led Raid 2, which had an opening of Rs 19.25 crore, and outperformed Akshay Kumar’s historical drama Kesari Chapter 2 which earned an estimated Rs 7.75 crore by a significant margin. Sunny Deol’s Jaat, another prominent release, recorded Rs 9.5 crore on Day 1—well behind Cruise’s action-packed outing.
With such a strong start, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is poised for a successful run at the Indian box office. As word-of-mouth spreads and the long week ahead, all eyes are now on whether the film can maintain momentum and challenge other 2025 box office heavyweights. It remains to be seen if it can break through the Rs 100 crore mark, like it did with its 7th instalment.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning has hit Indian theatres in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu across premium formats including 4DX and IMAX. Notably, the film has been released in India six days ahead of its US premiere over the Memorial Day weekend. While promoting the final instalment of the Mission: Impossible franchise, Tom in a video, reached out to his Indian fans and expressed his affection for Indian culture and shared his desire to make a Bollywood-style film in the future. In a video shared by Avneet Kaur, the actor gushed, “I feel so much love for India. India is an amazing country—people and culture. The entire experience has been etched in my memory. Every single moment, from visiting the Taj Mahal to spending time in Mumbai, remains vivid in my heart.”
