THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A junior woman lawyer practising at Vanchiyoor court was brutally attacked by her senior during a discussion over an internal dispute with her and a staff member at the lawyer's office near the court on Tuesday.The victim, Syamili J V, 26, of Parassala, fell down after being slapped by Beyline Das, 48, of Ambalathara. He pulled her up again and slapped her several times until she collapsed. She was also beaten with a mop stick. Syamili was injured seriously and was admitted to the general hospital. Her face was swollen.The Bar Association suspended Das while Vanchiyoor police, Kerala women's commission and the state youth commission registered cases. However, police are yet to take him into custody. Police invoked charges under sections of BNS 74 for using criminal force against a woman with the intention to outrage her modesty, 126 (2) for wrongful restraint and 115 (2) for causing hurt. The commissions directed the city police commissioner to probe the incident and submit a report.Syamili has been working at the office of the accused for three years. She said she was attacked in front of others by the senior earlier too. She alleged that she was terminated from the office on Thursday and was asked to rejoin on Friday. "I was terminated based on a complaint by a typist at the office but hours later he changed his mind and asked me to join the office. While I was talking to him about this, he turned aggressive and started attacking me," she said.
