The Los Angeles Chargers have once again claimed the crown for the NFL’s most creative schedule release video—and this year, they didn’t hold back. In their 2025 release, the team brought fans into a fully animated Minecraft universe, packed with Easter eggs, deep references, and yes, even a savage dig at someone not even on their schedule: Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
Los Angeles Chargers troll Josh Allen and Hailee Steinfeld in savage Minecraft-style schedule release video
While most teams opt for simple social media graphics or hype clips, the Chargers continue to redefine the schedule reveal. Previous years have featured anime, video calls, PowerPoint spoofs, and even Sims-style worlds. But 2025’s Minecraft-themed masterpiece may be their boldest and most controversial yet.
In what’s quickly becoming the most talked-about moment of the nearly five-minute video, the Chargers took aim at Allen and his girlfriend, actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld. Despite not facing the Bills in 2025, the video depicts a blocky Minecraft version of Allen walking out of a movie theater—clearly referencing Steinfeld’s new film Sinners, known for its steamy scenes.
Outside the theater, Allen is confronted by Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner, a nod to the Jets’ Week 6 showdown with the Chargers. But the inclusion of Allen had nothing to do with the Chargers’ schedule—it was a deliberate jab, one that fans picked up on immediately.
Fans split over Allen-Steilfeld mockery
While some NFL viewers found the bit hilarious, others criticized it as a low blow. After all, Allen has been nothing but supportive of Steinfeld’s work, especially Sinners. Speaking at the movie’s premiere last month, Allen praised her performance:
“It was awesome. It was a different world, a very cool experience. I’m so excited for her and so proud of her. It’s getting some great reviews, it’s a fantastic movie… so go watch it!”
The quarterback’s endorsement only adds to the irony of the Chargers' trolling move.
