The horror came to light on March 30 when her body was found near Charkheda railway bridge in the backwaters of
Indira Sagar Dam in Khandwa district. At the time, she was unidentified. Autopsy confirmed death by strangulation. Police learned about a missing girl from Chhipabad village and questioned the family.
Her father, Lokesh Meena, admitted that he killed her because she insisted on marrying her lover.
According to police, Lokesh said on March 26, he took her to the farmhouse to convince her, but when she remained adamant, he flew into a rage and strangled her.
After the murder, Lokesh informed his father, Vishnu Prasad. They stuffed Kajal's body in a sack, transported it 30km away on a motorcycle, and threw it into the river from a bridge. On returning home, Lokesh lied to his wife, saying he had dropped their daughter at her elder sister's house in Dewas.
