COIMBATORE:
Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) has launched an investigation into the allegation that a technician at its Ukkadam branch-1 bus depot asked an ITI student on internship to paint a toilet.
The issue came to light after a video of the incident was circulated on social media platforms. The student in the video was part of a group of around 25 students from various ITIs from different districts, who recently joined the Ukkadam branch-1 depot for a one-year internship.
"On Thursday evening, a technician asked a student to paint the toilet. Someone recorded the act and shared the video on social media," said a source.
A TNSTC official said during the one-year internship, ITI students are typically assigned tasks such as tyre changes, spare parts replacement and bodywork.
“An explanation will be sought from the staff member involved in assigning the painting work in the toilet, and appropriate action will be taken based on that,” the official added.
